Jos is a dedicated legal professional with deep roots in Arizona. Raised in Phoenix, he pursued his passion for law, earning a BS in Criminal Justice from ASU after attending Paradise Valley Community College, and later his JD from Arizona Summit Law School. His commitment to criminal defense was evident early on as he interned and clerked for defense attorney Robert Campos, which served as a crucial stepping stone in his career.
In 2018, Josh and his wife relocated to Yuma for what was initially planned as a one-year commitment with the Public Defender’s Office. However, the challenging yet fulfilling work, coupled with the warm embrace of the Yuma community, led to a nearly five-year stay, making it their adopted home. Seeking a broader understanding of the criminal justice system, Josh pursued an opportunity to gain a different perspective.
This led to a unique role in 2023 as an Assistant United States Attorney in Yuma, where he focused on prosecuting human smuggling and large-scale drug trafficking cases. His experience further expanded at the Yuma County Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted a wide range of felony offenses as part of the Major Crimes Unit.
Josh brings substantial trial experience, having handled primarily felony cases as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney. His courtroom experience spans from simple drug possession cases to complex and high-profile first-degree murder trials, along with everything in between. He has a proven track record of successfully litigating evidentiary hearings from both sides of the courtroom.
During his time as a public defender, Josh achieved favorable outcomes for his clients, including not guilty verdicts and dismissals, as well as securing advantageous resolutions through plea negotiations. As a prosecutor, he secured guilty verdicts in serious felony cases, responded to homicide crime scenes, attended autopsies, and provided support to victims during their most difficult times.
Beyond his legal practice, Josh actively contributes to the local bar, having served as its past president and currently as the mock trial coordinator. He is an alumnus of the Arizona State Bar Leadership Institute and participates on various local boards.
Outside of his professional life, Josh enjoys cooking, cinema, and traveling with his wife. He also finds pleasure in reading, spending quality time with family, and is an avid sports enthusiast.
