Alan Bowman was born in Oneonta, Alabama. His father was transferred to Arizona because he was a cotton broker. Alan grew up mainly in Yuma, Arizona except for about four years when he attended high school in Davis, California. Alan went to Arizona State University and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering and then went to law school at Arizona State University, Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law. He graduated in May 1979.
During law school, Alan clerked for Brian Smith at Richards, Smith and Smith. As soon as he graduated with his J.D., he went to work for the firm in Yuma from 1979 to 1987. He then became a partner in the law firm of Bowman and Smith from 1987 to 2018. Since then, the firm has expanded and is now Citrine Law.
Alan is married with two children. His wife, Tamara Bowman. Alan has a son and a daughter; his son has been in the United States Navy for almost 10 years. Alan has two grandsons, Jasper and Matthew.
Alan is a member of the Arizona Association for Justice, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the State Bar of Arizona, APITLA, the National Trial Lawyers of America, and the American Association for Justice. He has been confirmed as a senior barrister. He has also been ranked as one of the top 10 attorneys in Arizona for handling motor vehicle accidents. Alan is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He was chairman of the disciplinary commission of the Supreme Court of Arizona and was president of the Yuma County Bar Association.
Alan has primarily practiced in Arizona but has had significant experience in California and Colorado. Since 1990, he has been Board Certified by the State Bar of Arizona in the area of injury and wrongful death litigation. He is licensed to practice in Arizona, Colorado, the 9th and 10" circuits, Court of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.
Outside of practicing law, Alan’s interests are traveling, softball, and martial arts. In 2005, he went to China and studied martial arts with the monks at the Shaolin monastery. He was certified as a specialist in traditional Chinese medicine as a result of his studies at the Tongren hospital in Beijing, China.
